KWADWO ASAMOAH COMPLETES INTER MILAN MEDICAL
Ghana
star Kwadwo Asamoah is almost done with procedures to become an Inter Milan
player.
Known for
his versatility, Asamoah completed his medical with Inter, and in the coming
days will sign a three-year contract.
Asamoah
has been a mainstay of the domestic-conquering Juventus side for the past six
years, winning the title in every one of those campaigns. He's even managed
three doubles - league and Cup titles - along the way.
The
Ghanaian operates either as a left midfielder, left wing-back or as an
offensive central midfielder, and his consistency has always made him a fan
favourite in the six seasons he's been with the Bianconeri.
With
Juve, he has twice been Champions League finalist, six times a Serie A winner,
won four Italian Cup trophies and three Italian Super Cup crowns.
However,
Joy Sports understands that he communicated his wish to move on to the team's
management earlier this year, and he leaves with the goodwill of the Italian
giants.
Even
though his contract expires on June 30, the club hierarchy have known for
months that he will not renew.
In fact,
Joy Sports understands that he acquired a property in Milan months ago in
anticipation of a move to the Nerazzurri which will last until June 30, 2021.
Why do Inter need Asamoah?
The
former Italian champions are bolstering their squad quickly ahead of the World
Cup. Asamoah will fill the hole they have at left-back, and his pedigree
ensures he will get a lot of game time.
The club
have already signed Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij and, as one of the best
center backs in Serie A this season, a partnership with Asamoah would help
Inter in their ambition to dethrone Juventus next term.
Also key
is that Inter have got both players on free transfers, which helps bolster the
squad without impacting the FFP requirements. It's alss being widely speculated
that Inter will snap up 20-year old Argentine striking prospect Lautaro
Martinez.
Available for Ghana
Having
excused himself from national duty since the 2014 World Cup, Asamoah - one of
Ghana's most talented players of the last decade - has been out of the Black
Stars conversation since.
But he
has now told local media of his decision to return, and his subsequent
communication with Kwesi Appiah, who has expressed happiness to have the player
back.
